Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and completion of tip truck operations to meet all required outcomes including:

preparing for and organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

using a range of communication techniques and aids to advise others of work activity and exclusion zones

demonstrates completion of tip truck operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

organising work activities to comply with site standards

obtain and apply signage requirements

carry out log-on, pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures

operate, steer, manoeuvre and position tip truck

raise and lower tray smoothly

apply load cover

discharge load on slope and/or over face

dump and spread materials

halt and park tip truck

carry out inspections and identify faults

process written records and reports


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the following when conducting tip truck operations through:

recording, reporting and handover procedures

start up and shutdown procedures

vehicles within specifications and limitations and reporting faults in vehicles and ancillary equipment

tip truck types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations

safety requirements

operational, maintenance and basic diagnostic procedures

site isolation and traffic control responsibilities and authorities

safety data sheet and materials handling methods

load quantity calculations
